About this event
How do our imaginations shape memories into prose? How do speculation, hesitation, and mystery guide the “facts” of nonfiction? In this generative workshop, we explore ways of jump-starting personal prose about favorite, or haunting, memories. We practice some techniques on the page for balancing external and internal truths, and for discovering a narrating "voice," an emphasis, and a style. You’ll create a short personal essay, a new scene for a memoir, or a series of short scenes for your future work. You’re welcome to bring to the workshop an object that stirs up memories you'd like to explore in writing. Reality needs imagination!
