2019 Festival of Young Artists
A free event for the community, the Festival of Young Artists will celebrate the collaborative creativity of more than 400 of the Capital Region’s brightest young dancers, musicians, singers, poets, and visual artists.
Kicking off at 2:00 p.m., SPAC’s grounds will be transformed into a festive celebration inspired by the student-generated theme, The Beauty and Power of Nature, and will feature individual pop-up performances by Empire State Youth Orchestra, Northeast Ballet Company, National Museum of Dance School of the Arts, Capital District Youth Chorale, and other select student ensembles from the Capital Region, fine art displays, food stands, poetry slams, immersive workshops and activities.
Local Native American author and storyteller, Joseph Bruchac, will serve as the festival’s special guest and master of ceremony. SPAC will also welcome back the Haudenosaunee Singers and Dancers from the Onondaga Nation as special guest performers and educators.
The festival will culminate with hundreds of young artists gathering together to present a one-hour concert on SPAC’s main stage.
SPAC’s 2019 Festival of Young Artists is part of the venue’s new commitment to fostering artistic collaboration and providing free access to enriching arts programs.
