Clifton Park Late Summer Pool Membership Rate Reduction

Clifton Park, NY - The Town of Clifton Park Office of Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs has announced that beginning Friday, July 30, membership fees to all three town pools will be half price. This change is typically made on August 1, but since that date falls on a weekend, Town Supervisor Phil Barrett has opened up half-price memberships on the Friday prior to August 1.
For the last month of the season, pool membership will be $60 for an individual, $95 for a couple and $127.50 for a family. Children ages 3 and under are free when a parent is a member.
The pools are located on Burning Bush Blvd. in the Country Knolls development, Locust Lane and Barney Road, both in the Clifton Knolls development.

Ballston Spa, NY - The Saratoga County Fair announces today that six $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to current New York State high school seniors and also students enrolled in college who are pursuing a degree in a field related to agriculture, fair management or the outdoor amusement business.
The New York State Association of Agricultural Fairs and the New York State Showpeople’s Association sponsor the scholarships.
The qualifying students must be active at the Saratoga County Fair. All applicants from Saratoga County must submit their applications through Saratoga County Fair no later than Friday, April 9, 2010.
Information is available at the Saratoga County Fair office, 162 Prospect Street, Ballston Spa, NY, 12020, through Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County and from local high school offices. Applications must be printed and completed from the web at www.nyfairs.org.

CLIFTON PARK, NY—Capital Region residents wanting to help the victims of the earthquake that devastated Haiti will have an opportunity to attend a benefit concert for “To Love A Child” Haiti Mission at Northern Lights, Route 146 in Clifton Park on Saturday, January 30th from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The January 12th earthquake devastated Haiti killing perhaps hundreds of thousands of people and leaving thousands of children as orphans.
Members of the Capital Region-based organization “To Love a Child” have been to Haiti bringing various supplies including first aid kits, newborn and birthing kits, clean drinking water, clothes, shoes and other essentials to the children from the Orphanage of Good Will in Port-au-Prince and a school in the nearby town of Hantlamouhaie.
While the orphanage in Port-au-Prince was destroyed by the earthquake all 29 children survived and are now living under a tarp near the street.
