About this event

Uncover the Pine Bush's Hidden History

Michael Diana, Historian & Director of Education, Schenectady County Historical Society, will discuss how this rare landscape shaped the Capital Region and why its protection matters today.

The Albany Pine Bush is famous for its rare ecosystem, but few know how deeply this landscape shaped the Capital Region’s history. Michael will reveal the Pine Bush’s deep past—Indigenous trails, early settlement, and how this sandy expanse influenced the growth of Albany, Schenectady, and beyond. It’s a fresh angle on a place usually covered only for its plants and wildlife.
