The Puppet People Present The Wizard of Oz
Monday, October 10
The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Library invites families to enjoy this classic tale as the Puppet People follow Dorothy to The Emerald City. This is a completely free event with no registration necessary. The Puppet People use marionettes, shadow puppets, rod puppets, a large parade puppet, and more. The show is suitable for ages 5 and up.
Friday, October 7 to Sunday, October 9
Get ready to be amazed by the greatest show on Earth, the Ringling Brothers! The kids will love the circus artists, magnificent animals, and more. You’ll have five chances to experience the ultimate family entertainment show at The Times Union Center in Albany: Friday the 7th at 7pm; Saturday the 8th at 11am, 3pm, or 7pm; or Sunday the 9th at 2pm. Tickets range from $10 to $60 and can be purchased through ticketmaster.com.
Festivals & Car Shows
Saturday, October 8
The Clifton Park Elks Lodge in Ballston Lake is hosting its third annual Elktoberfest to benefit the Cerebral Palsy Association. Come out to enjoy beer, wine, and liquor tastings from local establishments like Albany Distilling Company and Olde Saratoga Brewery. There will also be German beer, food, games, raffles, prizes, and more. Tickets are $15 (or $10 for seniors) and include six tastings and a commemorative glass.
“The Way We Were” Car Show in Ballston Spa
Sunday, October 9
The Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association and the Saratoga Automobile Museum are teaming up to present the 14th annual “The Way We Were” Car Show. Front Street will be blocked off from Milton Avenue past the Old Iron Springs to accommodate the car exhibits and vendors. Patrons can enjoy hundreds of show cars, live music, food, and family activities. The event is free for spectators, or you can enter your show car for $15.00.
9th Annual Maple Ski Ridge Fall Festival
Saturday, October 8
Maple Ski Ridge in Rotterdam is presenting its 9th annual Fall Festival with a car show, over 40 crafters at a craft fair, chair lift rides to the best views in Schenectady, a pie eating contest, great music, a kids fun zone, and tractor rides for the whole family. Free admission!
Saratoga International Flavorfeast
Saturday, October 8
Happening at participating restaurants in downtown Saratoga, you can take part in an international tasting experience! Try different foods from France, China, Japan, Italy, Mexico, and right here in America, among other countries. Admission to Flavorfeast is free; food samples are $1 each.
28th Annual Goold Orchard Apple Festival
Saturday, October 8 to Sunday, October 9
The celebration of arts, crafts, and agriculture is back at this annual festival at Goold Orchards in Castleton-on-Hudson. For just $10, partake in u-pick apples and pumpkins, live entertainment, craft vendors, face painting, horse drawn wagon rides, and more!

There are many special happenings taking place in the downtown Ballston Spa shops, restaurants, and galleries. Check out live music, art displays and demonstrations, refreshments, and featured shop promotions. The theme for October is School & Community Spirit.
