National Martini Day is fast approaching on Friday, July 19th! The classic American cocktail has been seen in the hands of pop culture icons throughout the years from Betty Draper to James Bond (shaken, not stirred.) However, some may not realize the drink’s history stretches back to the 1800’s.
The story we kept digging up over and over again is one of a miner in Martinez, California in 1860. After a long day of digging, he stopped in a bar to grab a drink. The bartender made him a “Martinez” cocktail. After a few too many, the miner could no longer pronounce the “z” at the end of Martinez, and the name “martini” was born.
We know where we’ll be celebrating National Martini Day in Clifton Park! Check it out:
The beautiful Lake Ridge Restaurant in Round Lake not only serves up mouth watering appetizer and entrées, but fantastic martinis, as well! Their featured drink to commemorate the holiday is the Lake Ridge Hot and Dirty Martini. Love a little spice? This one is for you! It’s made with Absolut Peppar Vodka, olive juice, dry vermouth, three drops of hot sauce and garnished with three stuffed olives: one jalapeño, one garlic and one cocktail onion.
We hope to see you at Lake Ridge Restaurant on Friday, June 19th to celebrate National Martini Day!
