I have always loved photography and design. I’m not a professional or anything, but there is something so rewarding about seeing an image that you’ve captured enhanced and really made to “pop.” People are always commenting on my photos and wishing they had PhotoShop and knew how to use it.
PhotoShop is an expensive program! Most people don’t have the extra cash on hand to just blow $200 on a program they don’t know how to use and will probably only dabble in once in awhile. The cheaper alternative is PhotoShop Elements. It’ll run you a little over $60 and while it doesn’t offer the full scope of features PhotoShop has, it does offer you probably all of the features you would want from such a program.
An even more economical option is using PhotoShop Elements free! The Clifton Park Halfmoon Public Library has computers equipped with PhotoShop Elements, which are free and available for library card holders to use. You can bring in your images on a flash drive or memory card, edit them there and save the new and improved images that “pop” without spending a dime! Pretty sweet, right? But that won’t help you much if you don’t even know how to use the program…
Well, we have even better news for you. The library is offering free classes to learn PhotoShop Elements throughout the next few months! This is a great opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of photo editing along with a few other added “frills” you might be interested in to jazz up your photos.
Photoshop Elements 12 for Beginners at Clifton Park – Halfmoon Public Library will be offered on the following dates, and registration is free:
As of today, there was still space available for all of the above classes, so register early before they fill up and snag your spot.
Below are some samples of photos that I have enhanced using PhotoShop.
The words were also added in PhotoShop. This is just a sampling of what can be done using the program. In the top image, the butterflies were added through PhotoShop along with the image sharpening, contrast and vibrance. The possibilities are endless, whether you want real looking photos that pop or whimsical photos that evoke emotion. It’s a great opportunity to get to learn this amazing program for free at the library!
We hope this comes as good news for those who have been interested in enhancing their photos but didn’t know where to start. Find out about more upcoming events in the area on our Clifton Park events calendar.
