Hannah’s Hope Fund, a local charity founded by the family of Hannah Sames, has been working hard over the past four years to raise money to find a cure for Giant Axonal Neuropathy, or GAN. It is a devastating disease which slowly eliminates a person’s physical abilities.
Recently, the charity received some exciting news! Doris Buffett, founder of the Sunshine Lady Foundation and sister to billionaire Warren Buffett, has offered Hannah’s Hope Fund a $450,000 challenge grant.
The catch: If the charity doesn’t raise $450, 000 by April of 2013, they won’t receive the matching donation.
The $900,000 will go in entirety to pay for a human clinical trial for children at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
This is a great cause with local roots and a donation of any size can make a difference. The approaching clinical trial depends on your donation.
