13th Annual Empty Bowls of Troy
October is World Hunger Month, and across the nation potters are joining together with their communities to organize Empty Bowl Projects--and right here in the Capital District potters, organized by the Collar City Clay Guild, are busy handthrowing and handbuilding 1,100 bowls to donate to the 13th Annual Empty Bowls at the Italian American Community Center, 1450 Fifth Avenue, Troy, NY. Restaurants in Troy are donating soups, stews, and chowders and bakeries are donating bread and desserts.
Admission is through presale tickets ($15.00) and at the door ($20.00) per person minimum. Each person selects their bowl and then has it filled with their choice of soup. Bread, drinks, and dessert are also included in the admission fee. There is ample room at the Italian Community Center to sit, eat, and enjoy the music that will be provided and the company of others. At the end of the meal your bowl will be washed and returned to you so you can take the bowl home as a reminder that everyday there is hunger in our world.
