Would you know what to do if you encountered an active shooter in a public setting? The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Library wants to teach the community about how to handle just such a situation, so they’re hosting an Active Shooter Program as well as an Active Shooter Drill.
Active Shooter Program
The Active Shooter Program will take place at the library on Monday, November 6th, at 7pm. The program is recommended for ages 12 and up.
“As a public institution, we feel it is our duty to educate the public about what to do should they ever find themselves in an active shooter situation,” Jim Foster, Assistant Director of Public Service at the Library, said in a statement. “Our hope is that with proper planning and preparation, we can help reduce the negative impact if such an incident occurs.”
Active Shooter Drill
Shortly after the Active Shooter Program there will be an Active Shooter Drill, on Wednesday, November 8th at 1:30pm. Signs will be posted around the library informing of the drill so guests have an opportunity to leave if they do not want to participate; anyone in the library at the time of the drill will be required to participate.
