EMPAC in Troy invites you to experience the world premiere of ONTOPOIESIS by Rama Gottfried & Yarn/Wire on Friday, May 2 at 7PM. Presented in the EMPAC Theater on the campus of RPI in Troy.
Composer Rama Gottfried, with production designer Anna Paniccia and piano and percussion quartet Yarn/Wire, explores new forms of music, experimental theater, and sculpture in this commissioned new artwork that ties us deeply to our surroundings.
Bowed piano strings form clouds of fuzzy distortion. Hyper-detailed, granularly-synthesized caterpillar feet mingle in digital lightning storms and open-air ambisonic field recordings. Connect with your senses as micro and macro sounds combine to form a vibrant, emergent theatrical ecosystem of sound.
