Good news for Southern Saratoga County!
CDTA announced the expansion of its FLEX service into the Southern Saratoga County region last week at a press conference held at DeCrescente Distributing in Mechanicville. The on-demand, app-based service will cover the Clifton Park, Halfmoon and Mechanicville areas starting Monday, September 20.
Saratoga County Chamber President Todd Shimkus was at the event. Todd was an early advocate of this service and has worked with CDTA to bring FLEX to fruition. He shared this message about the service with Saratoga County Chamber members:
“As our region grows, so do our transportation options. As we look at Saratoga County’s economy coming out of the pandemic, we know this public transportation option will only help grow the economy even more. If this effort is successful, our hope is to work with CDTA to expand the service to other parts of the county. We thank CDTA for its forward thinking and vision to connect our communities, and we pledge to make FLEX work in Southern Saratoga County so it can expand to the rest of the region!”
Southern Saratoga residents both young and old, employers and employees will all find this FLEX service to be a great asset for transportation needs.
The Southern Saratoga County FLEX service will operate free of charge during the initial pilot period. Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available. The service will operate Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., and on the weekends from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. FLEX vehicles undergo the same cleaning and disinfecting processes that all CDTA vehicles do to ensure customer safety and security.
