There’s a new online shopping service in the Clifton Park area, and this one’s operated by Google. Known as Google Express, online shoppers along the East Coast and in Clifton Park are now able to use the service to order products from select retailers and receive same-day, one-day, or two-day shipping.
Google Express is a new alternative to Amazon Prime, which is a membership service based around providing its members with free two-day shipping on products. Express allows shoppers to buy products from an assortment of retailers through its website or mobile app.
Here in the Clifton Park area, you can currently order products from over 10 retailers, including Kohl’s, Toys “R” Us, Whole Foods, PetSmart, and Ulta Beauty.
Google Express doesn’t require a paid membership to order products, but non-members must pay at least $4.99 per delivery for same-day, one-day, or two-day shipping. Express members receive free same-day, one-day, or two-day shipping on eligible orders.
If you don’t meet store minimums for the cost of your purchases, you will be charged a $3 small-order service fee.
Basically, there’s a $10/month membership and a $95/year membership, or non-members can opt to pay for fast shipping on each order. New shoppers can try a three-month free trial.
Since 2013, the online shopping service has expanded its reach from the West Coast to the East Coast. Starting at the end of September 2016, it is now available in more than a dozen East Coast states, including New York State.
According to the Times Union, Google hopes to partner with even more retailers and have Google Express available nationwide by the end of 2016.
