Listen up kids; this one’s for you! I don’t want to brag, but when I was a kid, I was an Easter Egg Hunt PRO! I knew all the tips and tricks for getting not only the most eggs, but also the BEST eggs.
I’m all grown up, and while I’d love to storm the field and grab those eggs for myself, I think I’d probably get a few dirty looks. So, in the spirit of Easter, I’m passing my 5 Easter Egg Hunt Tips on to the next generation of egg-seekers.
KIDS! Here are some strategies to get the best Easter eggs this year….

1. Skip with the perimeter.
Most kids run to the nearest egg and begin collecting and working their way in. If you run to the middle to start collecting, you will have more time before the other kids work their way in.
2. Use your arms to scoop up the eggs.
If you just use your hands, you can only get two at a time! Scoop them with your arms and you’ll be able to hold more. If you really want to be an Easter egg hunt pro, wear something with deep pockets and start stuffing them!
3. Don’t just pick your favorite color eggs.
A classic kid mistake is only picking the eggs that are your favorite color. So you’re a boy and you pick up a pink egg…who cares? Easter eggs are like people: it’s what’s inside that counts!
4. Shake the eggs a bit.
This is the best way to tell if what’s inside is really good!
- If the egg rattles…it’s probably jelly beans.
- If the egg makes a thud…it’s probably chocolate.
- If the egg jingles…it might be spare change.
- If it makes no sound…someone already ate the candy!
5. Run straight for bushes.
The Easter Bunny leaves some eggs right out in the open, but those are for the little kids. If you really want a challenge, run to the bushes, potted plants, and even look up in the trees. That’s where the really clever kids find some great eggs.
Bonus Tip: Just have fun!
The Easter Bunny left the eggs so you could have fun! Since Easter is about living with a generous and joyful spirit, don’t take eggs from the other kids and try to leave a few for the little kids who can’t get as many. Being a good sport is the best way to have a really happy Easter.
There you have it kids, my 5 Easter Egg Hunt Tips! Enjoy the excitement of the hunt and the sweet victory of the candy.
