Students from Clifton Park once again have me seriously impressed! Three high school students were finalists in a regional robot competition, for designing a robot that can both shoot, and make, baskets.
The two-day regional competition was held this past weekend in Hartford, CT and included students from 64 high schools from across six different states.
Student teams spent six weeks constructing and designing robots for the competition. The robots, designed using a common kit, were programmed to compete in a basketball game.
In the ‘Rebound Rumble’ game, the robots were expected to shoot balls into four baskets set at different heights. Balls scored in higher hoops score teams more points and teams receive bonus points if, at the end of the match, their robots are balanced on bridges in the middle of the field.
The winning teams, including the Rocketeers of Clifton Park, will head to the championship round in St. Louis, Missouri later this month for the championship!
