The Real Composers of NYC by the Memorial Concert Band of Colonie
Join us for a Tribute to The Big Apple with “The Real Composers of New York City”. We will take you on a musical journey that spans 125 years and will feel like strolling through the unique and diverse neighborhoods of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. To get a true taste of the ‘neighborhoods’ we will perform selected pieces by Composers new and old in musical pairs: Reed & Goldman, de Rose & Sousa, de Meij & Grainger, Osser & Pryor. Our musical odyssey ends in Battery Park looking out at the Statute of Liberty with the classic by Irving Berlin, “God Bless America.”
We will be led by our Associate Conductor Arthur Himmelberger and Assistant Conductor Laura Jacaruso. Our free concert is March 27, 2019 at 7:30pm in the Mark Cornell Auditorium of the South Colonie High School. We look forward to seeing you!
