A local fallen hero will be remembered and honored. A road in Clifton Park will be named in honor of John J. McKenna, a Marine Corps captain who died while serving in Iraq.
Town officials recently voted to call a street, located near the Northway Exit 8 ramp, John J. McKenna IV Way. The town recently ordered the McKenna street sign and will dedicate it to the Marine later this month at a ceremony with his mother and father, John and Karen McKenna III, who reside in Clifton Park.

This will be the second street named after McKenna.
A block near his childhood home on East Second Street in New York City has also been named after the Marine.
McKenna, 30, died from a gunshot wound August 2006, in Fallujah during his second tour of duty in Iraq. He had moved to Clifton Park from Brooklyn and worked as a State Trooper.
It's nice to see a community member being recognized and remembered in this way. Will you attend the dedication ceremony?
