We were very good tenants at Hollandale Apartments for the last 5 years. We always paid our rent on time (usually early). We did not complain about the police coming to our building at late hours due to our neighbors many domestic disputes. When we were told that we could have our worn-out kitchen updated within 2-3 months, we waited patiently for a year and a half to have it done. Although they wanted us to our renew our lease this year, we provided Hollandale with 4 months verbal notice that we would not be renewing it because we were moving to North Carolina. We asked for a list of instructions so that we could leave the apartment in a condition so that we would receive our deposit back. We asked the office staff on multiple occasions to inform us if they saw anything that might prevent us from receiving our deposit back. As soon as we informed them that we were moving 2 months prior to the end of the lease, they indicated we would be able to get our deposit back as long as we paid the rent for the entire lease. Otherwise, we would lose the deposit. Being good tenants, we paid our rent for the last 2 months of our lease although we did not live there. We also paid $150 to have our apartment professionally cleaned. We asked the office staff to let us know if they saw anything that would prevent us from having our deposit returned to us because we would have the cleaner come back. Long story short, we called again and left a message stating they would not give us our deposit back - the office manager won't return phone calls. We're writing a complaint to the Better Business Bureau now. Do better business Hollandale and you better start treating your tenants right! Especially your rule-abiding, loyal tenants - we even referred new tenants to them over a year ago. We are very disappointed!

I love Hollandale! from the moment I physically arrived, I knew I was home. The staff is always so helpful and willing to go the extra mile, the apartments are perpetually being updated, the maintenance is top notch. As my life has changed, their available floor plans have always adapted to my needs -- So long as I am renting, I won't want to live anywhere else!
