Clifton Park Nursery School To Hold 17th Annual Goods And Services Auction!

Clifton Park, NY – The Clifton Park Nuresry School (CPNS), a not-for-profit cooperative nursery school, will hold its 17th Annual Goods and Services Auction on Saturday, March 24 from 4pm to 8pm. This year’s auction will be held at the Vista at Van Patten Golf Club located in Clifton Park, NY.

The fundraising auction is held annually order to help raise money for repairs and maintenance of the school. “As a not-for-profit organization we rely on fundraising to keep the school up and running,” comments Tricia Tierney, current Co-Chair of the school. “The auction is a great way to bring out community members and alumni and always proves to be our most successful effort.”

Last year the auction made over $12,000, and the school hopes to exceed that number this year. Goods and services up for bid, thus far, include Walt Disney World tickets, getaway to Dunhams Bay Resort, wine tasting party at Classe Catering, rounds of golf at Saratoga National, YMCA memberships, and many more. In addition, each preschool class at the school will donate a themed gift basket to be auctioned off as well.

“The generosity and support of local merchants has helped make the auction such a success,” says Tierney, “The parents are also an integral part of putting together the fundraiser and work hard all year long to collect donations.” As well as the parents, the three and four-year-old students will also assist with the auction efforts. The auction paddles will be specially decorated by the school’s tiny members.

The Goods and Services Auction begins a 5pm, with a preview at 4pm. Tickets are $10 at the door and include the auction paddle and refreshments. No children will be permitted.

Clifton Park, N.Y., [1/1/2011] – Mazzone Hospitality today announced the name of its first venture in Southern Saratoga County: Angelo’s Prime Bar and Grill which is scheduled to open in November in the Hilton Garden Inn in Clifton Park Center Mall.

The latest Mazzone property will capitalize on the popularity of the company’s Prime brand while offering a relaxed menu that will feature burgers, sandwiches and salads.

“Southern Saratoga County is an area we’ve had on our radar for some time,” said Mazzone Hospitality Owner Angelo Mazzone. “Angelo’s Prime Bar and Grill will continue our tradition of quality food and impeccable service while catering to the greater Clifton Park community. A bar and grill is the perfect establishment for an audience that ranges from business professionals to young families.”

The 90-seat restaurant will offer a mix of affordably priced entrees and salads. The executive chef will be Steve Kerzner, sous chef for Mazzone Hospitality, who most recently worked at Prime at Saratoga National in Saratoga Springs this summer.

Mazzone Hospitality announced it will also host events in a 4,000 square foot banquet facility under the Mazzone Hospitality at the Hilton Garden Inn banner. The facility will seat 200 individuals for weddings and 250 for conferences.

Saratoga Bridges raises close to $8,000 (net) from a Raffle for 2 tickets to the 1st Major Golf Tournament of the Year

Saratoga Bridges is pleased to announce Richard Hines of Clifton Park as the winner of a limited Raffle for 2 passes to the 2011 Masters Golf Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, GA held last week. The agency held their drawing on March 14 which generated close to $8,000 (net) for vital programs and services.

The golf experience included private plane from Albany on April 6, chance to play at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, SC, dinner, hotel, tickets for the tourney on April 7 and shuttle transportation. These hard to obtain tickets were generously donated by Relph Benefit Advisors.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York (April 13, 2011) – Designated drivers visiting Saratoga Casino and Raceway will now be provided free non-alcoholic beverages to reward responsible choices and their contribution to the safety of others.

In response to the revival of Skidmore’s “CHEERS to the Designated Driver” program, the casino got on board as a participant offering complimentary soda and juice to any designated driver wearing the neon green wristband provided by the program. The gaming floor bars, restaurants and Vapor Night Club will all be supporting this program’s cause. Designated Drivers can get a bracelet at select pick-up locations before heading out with friends for the night.

Clifton Park Buys Clifton Knolls Golf Course

TOWN OF CLIFTON PARK ACQUIRES 39‐ACRE CLIFTON KNOLLS EXECUTIVE GOLF COURSE

The Clifton Park Town Board voted unanimously Tuesday to acquire the Clifton Knolls Executive Golf Course in the Stony Creek watershed. The purchase price of $1,075,000 will be paid for from surplus funds.

The purchase of the Clifton Knolls Golf Course permanently protects 39 acres of parkland in the heart of the Clifton Parks oldest neighborhood,Town Supervisor Phil Barrett said. “As we have with the Clifton Park Ice Arena, the town will leverage our resources to turn a profit at the golf course and offer added services to residents year‐round.”

The town also agreed to lease the nearby golf course parking lot, five‐bay maintenance garage, putting green and office space/restrooms for a total annual cost of $9,600. The lease may be terminated by the town at any time with a 60‐day notice.

Based on current reporting information and taking into account the town’s improved marketing efforts and additional program offerings, officials estimate town profit to be at least $50,000 per year. Possible recreational opportunities at the golf course include golf business outings, a Special Olympics golf tournament, golf and dinner packages, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snow golf and more.

Barrett cited the town website, town recreational materials, increased awareness with town ownership and new recreational programs as tools to increase business. The town’s buying power, reduced overhead and town employee synergy are all expected to reduce costs.

The parcel is in the Stony Creek watershed that is upstream to the Stony Creek Reservoir, which was identified as a priority property in the 2006 Saratoga County Green Infrastructure Plan and the 2009 New York State Open Space Plan.The Town Board has a proud record of preserving and protecting over 1,000 acres of open space in the last 10 years, Barrett said. This natural site links to surrounding town owned land and is a key component of Clifton Park’s comprehensive open space plan.

Clifton Park Late Summer Pool Membership Rate Reduction

Clifton Park, NY – The Town of Clifton Park Office of Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs has announced that beginning Friday, July 30, membership fees to all three town pools will be half price. This change is typically made on August 1, but since that date falls on a weekend, Town Supervisor Phil Barrett has opened up half-price memberships on the Friday prior to August 1.

For the last month of the season, pool membership will be $60 for an individual, $95 for a couple and $127.50 for a family. Children ages 3 and under are free when a parent is a member.

The pools are located on Burning Bush Blvd. in the Country Knolls development, Locust Lane and Barney Road, both in the Clifton Knolls development.

Residents may purchase the half-price memberships beginning 8 a.m. on Friday, July 30 at Town Hall in the Office of Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs or online. For more information call 371-6667.
